Byron Bay

Arriving in Byron bay mid to late afternoon is the best way to start a weekend. Pulling up to the main beach and finding 30 guys playing drums and the ladies dancing around is a must see you don’t have to be a local to join in just bring a drum or clappers and play. There was even a guy playing spoons. We set up camp at the Byron bay caravan park only 50m to the beach. With days trips going everywhere from Nimbin to crystal castle. First we headed off to Nimbin. Thinking it was going to be a happy place I was surprised that in the first 5 mins o was asked if I wanted WEED or Cookies. Sorry but if  you had seen these people I wouldn’t like to see where they are baking them. Also it wasn’t a happy place it was a bit scary so if you are thinking of going GO WITH A TOUR GROUP. With that out of the way there is nothing better than finishing the day of with a beer at the Beaches Pub. Located right across from the beach good food and great service.
Day 2 we went to Crystal Castle found about 30 mins drive from Byron. It is the most relaxing place after Byron itself . You walk around the gardens through massive Crystal rocks and have a coffee on the balcony over looking the mountains.
Also when your there you need to check out the lighthouse over looking million dollars houses. My Girlfriend has a think for lighthouses. She just loves them. So it was a must have a look at the photo and make your own mind.
Then there is the Byron bay cookie factory  located on the road north just before you hit the highway.
There is just so much to do in byron you cant just do it in a day or 2. Only being an hour from the gold coast it just has unlimited things to do you need a week really.
Thanks and until next time.

Hyden WA

Arriving in Hyden was an experience in its self. Checking the campervan in to Wave Rock Caravan Park and heading off to check out the sites. Having heard so much about the place we were excited to check it out. When you arrive head to the wave rock kiosk and ask them about the saltwater pool. Which is 4 times saltier than the Dead Sea. Not realizing that you shouldn’t really put your head under water there we dove in and it was unbelievable our eyes we stinging. They have a shower right next to the pool so when you hop out you can jump under straight away. Going back to the campsite for a little Gin and Tonic before heading 200m to wave rock itself.

Wave Rock is beautiful and unbelievable a big rock carved over hundreds of thousands of years to make a giant wave. Staying so close to wave rock we went back and visited it 3-4 times throughout the afternoon and morning just to see what it looks like at different time of day. There is a walk you can do around wave rock it goes for a couple of KMs so take water. On the walk there are checkpoints that have different things to look at and finish up at hippos mouth. Another massive rock carved by nature into what looks likes a hippo’s head. Than a short walk back to the caravan park for a swim in the pool.

FOOD: being in the middle of nowhere I recommend taking food to cook yourself. Steak cooked on the BBQ with salad, washed down with a glass of red wine or G and T.
